Can you tell us a bit about yourself? How did your journey begin at finby?

My path to Account Management was a little different from most of my colleagues’. Many of them started in customer support, but I had the chance to work across several departments at finby. I started out working at reception before moving to the finance department.

Over time, I realized that what I enjoy most is working with people. That eventually led me to the front office, where I’ve been working for more than two years now.

Is Account Management the role where you’ve truly found yourself?

Definitely. I love that this role combines office work with business trips. I enjoy traveling, meeting new people, and building long-term work relationships, so it feels like a perfect fit for me.

How would you describe finby to someone hearing about the company for the first time?

finby is a Slovak family-owned company, which often surprises people. We operate in the payments industry, and while payments might not sound like the most exciting topic at first, they’re something everyone uses every day.

What I really enjoy is how fast this industry evolves. New payment methods appear all the time, customer habits change, and there’s always something new to learn. It keeps the job interesting and makes it impossible to stand still.

What does a typical workday look like for you, and what do you enjoy most about it?

My day usually starts with coffee and breakfast with the team. After that, I go through my emails and plan out the day ahead.

A big part of my schedule consists of meetings, internal training sessions, and client calls where we discuss new features, service configurations, or current business needs.

What I enjoy most is working directly with clients. No two days are the same, which keeps things fresh and engaging.

You work closely with clients every day. What do you think they value most about working with finby?

I’d say one of our biggest strengths is our flexibility. We develop many of our solutions in-house and have our own team of developers, which means we can respond to client requests much faster.

Something that might take months or even years in a large corporation can often be delivered by our team in a fraction of that time.

Fintech and online payments are constantly evolving. What keeps you motivated?

For me, it’s the continuous learning. I enjoy following new payment methods, understanding why they become popular in different markets, and seeing the value they can bring to our clients.

The most rewarding part, though, is helping clients find solutions that improve their customers’ experience while also reducing costs.

finby operates across multiple European markets. Does the international environment make the job more interesting?

Absolutely. Speaking English every day, traveling for business, and working with people from different cultures makes the job incredibly diverse.

Every country also has its own business culture. Germans, for example, are known for being punctual and highly organized, which suits me well. On the other hand, working with Spanish or Italian partners teaches you to be a little more relaxed.

If we agree to meet for dinner at 7 p.m., that’s perfectly normal for them. Meanwhile, I’ve often already had dinner and started winding down for the evening. 😄

How would you describe the company culture at finby?

I could say we have a young and dynamic team, but that sounds a bit like a job advertisement. 😊

The truth is that finby has a genuinely friendly atmosphere. Over the years, many of my colleagues have become close friends, and we enjoy spending time together outside of work as well.

What sets finby apart from other payment solution providers?

One of our biggest advantages is that we can give merchants access to most local European payment methods through a single integration.

We’re also constantly adding new payment options and actively listening to client feedback. We don’t just collect suggestions-we work hard to turn them into improvements as quickly as possible. I believe it’s this combination of flexibility and a truly customer-focused approach that makes us different.

Is there a client success story you’re particularly proud of?

There have been quite a few.

We often recommend introducing local payment methods to clients who are expanding into new markets. At first, some are hesitant and unsure whether it’s the right move. But once the payment method is implemented, they often see customers adopt it quickly, leading to a smoother checkout experience and a positive impact on their business. Seeing our recommendations translate into real results for our clients is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

What qualities do you think make a great Account Manager?

I once heard someone describe an Account Manager as a postman, and honestly, it’s not a bad comparison.

We’re the people delivering both the good news and the challenging news, while also acting as the bridge between clients and our internal teams.

For me, the most important qualities are strong communication skills, the ability to understand what the client really needs, and a genuinely customer-first mindset.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career at finby or in fintech in general?

I’d definitely encourage them to give it a try.

The beginning can feel overwhelming because there’s a lot of new information to absorb. But once you get into it, you’ll discover that fintech is an exciting, fast-moving industry where there’s always something new happening.

And finally, on a more personal note-how do you switch off and recharge outside of work?

For me, the best way to recharge is through sports and traveling.

And to be honest, the older I get, the more I appreciate simple moments of peace-without my phone, computer, or constant notifications.

One of my favorite ways to unwind is going for a long walk with my boyfriend while leaving our phones at home. We just take our keys and cash for ice cream. 😊 Sometimes, that kind of simple offline time is the best reset you can have.
